Haryana Revises Policy on Higher Studies For Doctors


The Haryana government has revised its policy regarding higher studies (post-graduation level) for doctors to facilitate MBBS or BDS doctors in Haryana Civil Medical Services (HCMS) cadre to acquire M D or diploma or degree so that a strong resource base of specialist doctors could be built in the state.

Stating this here today, Health and Medical Education Minister Rao Narender Singh said that the policy would come into force from academic year 2011-2012.

Under the policy, MBBS or BDS doctors would be eligible for doing Post Graduate Course, both degree as well as diploma, after completion of four years of regular satisfactory qualifying service with two years rural service.

Only those fulfilling this condition would be eligible for sponsorship against reserved seat in PGIMS, Rohtak or other Government institution, and against the open seats in the Government colleges of Haryana or any other state or well established and reputed private medical education institutions, recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI).

Only 15 candidates would be sponsored per year in the private institutions which were recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI) and approved by Government of Haryana from time to time, he added.
