Government Dental College, Rohtak, which has recently been upgraded to a Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences (PGIDS), has secured a place among the country’s topmost dental colleges with the induction of state-of-the-art equipment and development of the requisite infrastructure.
The college, which is first and only state-run dental institute in the state, was on the verge of closure in 1993, when the Dental Council of India (DCI) stopped the admissions to the BDS course because of inadequate infrastructure and faculty strength.
The dental college, which had merely two MDS faculty members in 1993, now has more than 50.
As per a survey report of dental colleges across the country published in a reputed news magazine, Government Dental College, Rohtak, ranked 9th.
