Delhi Government to Recruit 13000 Teachers Under RTE Scheme

The Delhi government will recruit 13,000 teachers and open more schools under the right to education act, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said on Friday.

"About 13,000 new posts of teachers have been sanctioned by the government," he said at the launch of "Shiksha Ka Haq" campaign, intended to create awareness about the act, which provides for free and compulsory education to all children between the ages of 6 and 14 year.

He said the government has approved the Delhi Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules 2011 and it will soon be notified.

Lovely said that more schools would be opened to cater the requirements of the act.

The plan is to make available one school for classes between 1 to 5 within a radius of one kilometer and in case of students in classes 6 to 8 a school would be established within a radius of three km.

Asserting that no child would be denied school admission in Delhi, Lovely said all government and government-aided schools will have a school management committee to prepare school development plan which will assess class-wise enrolment, requirement of teachers as well as infrastructure.
