The district administration has reiterated that schools will have to make arrangements by tomorrow to ferry students by four-wheelers instead of auto-rickshaws .
The administration had given one month’s notice to the schools on December 1 last year to arrange for alternative transport for carrying students after a school student died when an overloaded auto-rickshaw overturned.
The auto-rickshaw operators had gone on a flash strike after the ban was imposed. However, the administration did not relent.
An official spokesman said here today that auto-rickshaws found carrying schoolchildren would be challaned from Thursday onwards. Such vehicles would be impounded, he added.
